Hall of Famer Butkus leads war against drugs

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus, who was renowned for playing with a menacing fury, is putting his passion into the fight against steroids.

Butkus said the linking of steroids and sports disgusted him and the former Chicago Bear is tackling the problem by delivering a message on the dangers of doping through his "I Play Clean" campaign aimed at high-school students.

Good stuff Dick - check out his website here

Last night was an early start, but I decided to sleep in my skins to prepare for the long day of 2 solid workouts. It was convenient to literally run out the door in my skins - as it was 40 degrees and still dark when I started my run, but I did have a nice view of the moon while running through Golden Gate Park. After completing my 6 mile run I was very glad to have worn my skins as they both kept me warm and compressed for the rolling hills throughout the course of the route. The second workout was an evening indoor 1 and ½ hour spin class and thanks to the skins my legs felt surprisingly loose after my early morning run.

Tester - Adam Zastrow Wraps Up!

I took it easy today, only 90 minutes on the trainer while watching a movie.

For my last day testing the Skins I wore the tights during my 2 hour trail run. Out of all the days testing the Skins I was most impressed today. On the trails I tend to scratch my legs up with brush and my not-so-great biomechanics (scratching the inside of my calves with my shoes), but today the tights gave me fantastic protection. I did, however, fray a few spots on the tights but not enough to break down the integrity.

After about 1.5 hours of running my legs usually feel fatigued but this time by the end I was still feeling good and easily could have continued. I’ve worn many different types of tights training and these, by far, are the best ones.

In conclusion, I would recommend the Skins Sport long sleeve top and long tights to any cyclist, runner, or any other type of athlete seeking comfort, quality, durability, support, increased recovery, improved workouts, and clothing for all sorts of climates.

Thanks again Skins for giving me this opportunity.

I decided to sleep in my skins Friday evening . . . after swimming for over an hour. The next morning I had a lactate threshold test done which is important for training and is the single best indicator of endurance performance known. It was a challenging test, but I felt the 50 mile bike ride combined with the skins would help loosen my legs up – which they did.

The next morning I swam 3600 yards and had to sit through a study group for the following 4 hours while wearing the skins. After the study group I managed to get a 2 hour afternoon bike ride in with a short 3 mile run to get used to the transition from the bike to the run as the Wildflower ½ Ironman is now 8 weeks away.
